Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time for "Wordplay"! I was sitting up late Saturday night watching The National Spelling Bee. I fell asleep before I found out who won or what the winning word was. Speaking of spelling bees, I was in a county spelling bee when I was in 7th grade. I missed my first word. It was terrible. I got up to the microphone and I blacked out. I was hideously nervous. I was literally shaking and sweating and my brain turned blank. Letters and words meant nothing. I had stage fright. It was awful. It is NOT a happy memory for me. That's a shame. Oh well. On the subject of spelling, I thought we could go to this site and see how many words you could spell correctly. How many words did you spell correctly? What words did you have trouble with? Go to this site and see the most frequently misspelled words, and misspelled is, by the way, a commonly misspelled word. Are there any words that have tripped you up over the years- words that you have commonly misspelled?

I got stage fright and passed out too. I only spelled 5 right. I am not editor material. Whatever! LOL That was fun and I found out I am dumber than I thought LOL!!! Barbara

ReplyDeleteI got 7/10 right but that was with looking at the right spellings. If I was going without hints I would have been below 5. I am such an idiot when it comes to spelling. Without spell check I'd be lost.

Hi Val, I couldn`t get the site to open but I`m reasonably good at spelling though I seem to get stuck on easy words. The word `definitely` I often misspell. Also `maleovalent`, you see, I don`t think that`s right either...lol! :o)

You know I am spelling challanged!! I even have that in my profile. I got 5 out of 10 which actually surprised me. I have ALWAYS spelled vaccum wrong and everytime I spell it (which really isn't that often other then my to do lists) I spell it a different way.

I got 9 out of 10..."Excellent" Paraphen-whatever got me. The only spelling bee I was in, in the sixth grade, I got put out my "biscuit" Don't guess I'll ever forget it. ~Meg

I'm actually a pretty good speller, and I'm very thankful for that talent. Most of those words would give me no trouble. Some would. I'm DEFINATELY not perfect. Sometimes I have to stop and think about some of the words on the list as well. Thanks for sharing that!
