Happy Valentine's Day!...

I don't have a "Valentine" this year and sometimes I become cynical on this holiday, but I am going to try not to this year.  I do think that Valentine's Day has become a little bit too commercialized (as has many holidays!), but I do think it is important to show our significant other that they are very special and how much we love them!!  Why can't we do this all year round??  Perhaps you do!  I do hope so!!  I don't think there is anything wrong with having a day to promote this, but I don't think we should be dishing out so much cash to prove our love.  I hope everyone out there is finding creative ways to show your Valentine how much they mean to you!  I used to make certificates for back rubs or chores done or washing the car, etc.  I remember writing down 100 reasons why I loved my significant other one year.  Anyway, I wanted to wish everyone a very HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Here is God's, who is my Valentine all year-round, Valentine to you!!  God bless you!:

  3. Agreed, Valentines day is very commercial.  We don't really do anything special, we never go out to dinner or anything like that.  Chris got me kisses and pink roses, and he only got the roses because my mom made me an arrangement ;)  he's so silly sometimes.  I have a Valentines date with Pey and my mom, we're just having dinner here and making desserts.
Chris and I have been making lists of things we want to do together since before we moved in with each other!  Just silly little things like flip pancakes, push each other on a swing, hold hands on a ferris wheel.  Every now and again we find one of the lists lying around and check off what we've done.  It's all about the little things!
Take care Val, and a very Happy Valentines Day, and every other day to you! :)

  5. It is commercialized like most holidays.  We normally use it as an excuse to go out to eat and do a card and we are still doing that.  But this year, I bought things Hubby and PreTeen needed (things we would be going out and buying for spring wardrobe anyway).  Hubby NEVER shops for himself and PreTeen is sprouting out of her clothes!!!  So a good time to surprise them with new things.  (It actually saves me money if PreTeen does NOT go shopping - LOL!!!!)  So spending the cash worked for me this year!!  But I don't go hog wild and I look for deals!!  And I saved bundles.  I heard Hubby saying my gift was from Walmart - LOL!  So no diamonds for me!!  I teasingly told him Belks was open.

Hope you have a happy valentines day and you can enjoy that with loved ones, it doesn't have to be a significant other!!!  It's a good time to treat yourself too.

Thanks for sending the link....sorry for my "book" written in your entry!!!
