This week's Weekend Assignment is another reader suggestion, this time from isckwootton, and just in time for Halloween:
Write your own, preferably rhyming, epitaph. For example,
Here lies Jed,
He fell out of bed.
Extra credit: Write a cute epitaph for your favorite loved one, relative, or family pet. Suggestion: keep it light. You might want them to continue being your favorite loved one, relative, or family pet. Nothing is worse than having Fido dissing you over some silly words on a gravestone.
Here is my stab at it:
Here lies Val
She was a happy gal,
'Til the truck mowed her over
Now she lies with the clover.
And for the extra credit, I chose to write about my cat, Honey:
Here lies Honey-Honey
She was a beloved pet,
'Til the day her owner didn't see her
And a couch upon her did set.
Know it is a bit of fun Val, but count me out of this one. You could say I would be very superstitious about doing something like that. Each to his own. Happy Halloween.
ReplyDeleteVal, this made me smile!!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine...
Here lies Sara-Jane
She tripped over a drain
Banged her head
And wound up dead
Now she'll never eat chocolate again!!!
;o)

ReplyDeleteShe needed a rest
Too tired from cleaning,
She escaped the mess.
Very good. But I don't want to think about you dead Val, lol. -Krissy

He should have had a shave
Poor hairy Dave.
