BUT You Don't Look Sick?...

I was given a link to this story by lovely Amy who suffers daily.  I think it is an ingenious story.  If you have anyone in your life that deals with chronic illness and has depleted energy than this is a must read!  If you deal with depleted energy this is a must read also!  This story is written by someone with one specific illness but can be applied to any illness.  I know many in J-Land with fibro., chronic depression, CFS/ME, and a host of other illnesses that rob us of our daily right to choose what we want to do without even giving it a second thought.  This story is a little long, so if you need to, bookmark it and go back to it, but don't just skim it. Read it!  You will do yourself and a loved one a favor.  We will all deal with illness with ourself and someone else someday.  Thanks, Amy!

BUT YOU DON'T LOOK SICK, a/k/a, the spoon theory

May we all be blessed with enough spoons today!!....

  2. I'm going to read that when I get home.  If only I could have a nickel for every time I heard that I didn't look sick ... I'd be one rich woman.  I look forward to sitting in peace and reading that entry.

  5. That was a great theory.  I too HAD Lupus, I've been in remission for almost ten years.  I was told I would never carry a baby full term, and may have kidney and other organ problems for the rest of my life.  All three of my kids were born either late, or 2 weeks early due to their large size.  I found out that the Lupus I had was induced by a medication I took after dental surgery.  I thank God everyday for taking it easy on me.  From time to time I get bloodwork to keep any eye on it.

  6. Finally got to read that story.  That's a really good way to explain that kind of illness, helps to understand a little of what others go through.  Maybe I'll think about what I use my 'spoons' for, for a while, try not to take them for granted.  I understand that others may not have that choice...

  7. Thanks for using the link! I think that story is so well written and really helps people who dont suffer with that kind of fatigue understand...it helps people that do suffer with it find a better way to explain it too!!

as for the 'lovely Amy' bit...you're too kind! Making me blush now...lol!

I hope you are doing ok at the moment...afraid my journal isnt exactly a barrel of laughs but it helps to get it all out. I hope we can both get a bit of luck thrown our way sometime soon.

    Love and hugs, Amy xxx
