Warning: Fire Pictures!

Warning:  If fire and smoke pictures bother you, don't look at the pictures below!  I woke up to sirens very early this morning.  A local historic building was burning!  The Bush House was built in 1868.   It was built originally to be a hotel.  It is now a combination restaurant/bar/hotel and has an eyeglass store in it as well.  It is now a shell of a building.  It is a skeleton.  My friend Roger took these pictures.  I got a USB cable yesterday.  These pictures didn't upload to my computer, so I figured out that it must be my software.  I figured out another way to get them on.  Now atleast I know it is not my computer or camera.  So, hopefully, I will figure out how to get an "Up Close With Val" installment on here regularly each week now!!

Congratulations to Barbara from
Confessions of an Angel Waitress.  She was able to unscramble every anagram in "Wordplay" last week.  The answers were - 1. sarajanesmiles, 2.  readmereadyou,  3.  fasttrack,  4. iscribble4u,  and 5.  thebaabee.  Thanks to all who played!!  I will be back on later to have this week's installment.  I think it will be a really fun one!!  I am off here to go take care of Krissy's cat, Michael.  He is such a joy to go see!  Have a good day, everyone!! xox

  1. A beautiful building destroyed. What a shame. I can't help but think of all the church fires in Alabama. I hope they catch those horrible people soon.

  3. Wow!  What pictures!  I never have my camera with me when something like this happens.  What a terrible thing for such a historical building to be destroyed.  God bless all our dedicated fire fighters who put their lives on the line for us.  Thank you from the deepest part of my heart!  Thanks for the shout out Val! 5. Here I sit in State College and just heard this news when I read your journal. Oh, my gosh! I can't believe that the Bush House is gone, gone, gone.......That was such a nice place too.  It was nice to sit outside near the creek when the weather was warm.

  10. That certainly is a big fire. I wouldn't like to be a fireman and have to tackle that. They do a wonderful job. I do hope Krissy and John are doing OK, last I heard John had a lot of problems. Glad Michael is OK being looked after, and no doubt spoilt, by you!! Jeannette.

  16. That is a tragic irreplaceable loss of such an historic building.   The arsons that are taking place in the south of church's, some dating back over a hundred years, are sickening.   Michael must be very happy to have your company for a little while.   I hope John and Krissy are doing as well as can be expected.   I am very slow at getting to alerts, so I hope I did not delete an alert from her private journal.   Hugs, mark
