Play My New Game!...

Happy New Year, all my good journal friends!!  I had a good holiday week.  Except I was awful sick.  My insurance company (the state of Pennsylvania) decided it didn't want to pay for my control-released narcotic for pain so I went through alot of withdrawal and pain for nine days.  I got pretty darn sick.  I didn't mind the pain so much, but the withdrawal sucked.  They didn't make up their mind what they wanted to do until after the holiday weekend and then they decided to put me on a different medicine than I had been taking for over five years.  So I am taking a new medicine on a lower dose and still don't have good pain control.  I don't have withdrawal anymore, though, thank goodness.  I have been left with ALOT of anger, though.  I don't know why "suits" get to make these decisions and not doctors?!!  I have started my new insurance company under the new Medicare system January 1 and hope that I won't have too many problems.  Ack, wish me luck!

I wanted to wish my precious brother-in-law, John, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

  Happy Birthday to you...
  Happy Birthday to you...
Happy Birthday my dear John John...
  Happy Birthday to you!!!

It looks like John's bone marrow transplant will be in about ten days or so.  They are finalizing everything this week.  Thanks so much for keeping him in your prayers!

I wanted to start a new "game".  I have a love for words.  We probably all do as we are all writers of sorts.  Words are beautiful to me.  I think I got this love from my Mom and Dad.  They always had/have a dictionary sitting around and we are always discussing them.  Words are just wonderful, magical... Well, you get the picture.  Anyway, I am winging this.  I wanted to start some "wordplay" games.  Some will be very easy, some hard.   Some you will be able to answer and discuss right away, some will need some thinking, and there will be a winner, but like I said, I am winging this.  I will be posting a game once a week.  I hope we can have some fun!!  For the first installment I wanted to discuss something I have always found very curious, so here it is...

I have looked at your screen names for months or longer now.   Why did you choose itHow did you come up with it Does it mean something special to you?

My answer - My screen name, valphish, is simply a play on my name Valerie Fisher.  I was kind of sad I chose it after all the phishing scams came about.

How about your screen name?

One last thing...
Kellen did a wonderful recap of 2005 and it deserves a look-see.  Pop over if you can.  Great job, Kellen!   Have a great rest of the week, all! xox

  1. Val, I love this game!

    My screen name -

    Lv2Trnscrb - Love 2 Transcribe

I do medical transcription so that's how I came up with that one.

Also, I have a second screen name:

MomInMntna - Mom in Montana since I live in Montana!

Looking forward to playing this weekly.

By the way, I'm with you; I love words, love the sound of them, etc. There's a city in Montana called Rapelje "Rap - el - jay" I just love the sound of it.

Heading over to send an email card to John for his birthday! Thanks for the head's up.

    betty

  2. I don't have a screen name as such, only my real name! I hope you can get your meds sorted and the pain under control again. It's not right to change someone's medication like that. Wish John a very happy birthday from me, i'll pop over to Krissy and send an email card. Jeannette.  http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels

  5. Happy Birthday John.

I'm sorry you are having medicatiion problems.  Sometimes if your doctor calls the drug company they will give you meds for free.

  6. Hi Val,  I`m sorry to hear that you haven`t been too well. Medical insurance is something that here in England, we don`t have to worry about, thankfully.  It must be really hard for you to have to accept a decision from `suits` as opposed to qualified doctors.  A very Happy Birthday to John and I hope all goes well for his transplant.  As far as my screenname goes, Labdancer is a play on LAPdancer, but with a difference.  Lab is for my old labrador Hannah whose jumping around was like a dance.  So with a lab who danced, what else could I do...lol!  51 was the age I was when I chose it.  Hence Labdancer51 ...lol! :o)

  9. I have visited Kellen's page and find her to be a bright teenager with a tremendously great outlook on life.   Happy Birthday to John, hoping everything goes well and is a total success.    Hoping that your medication brings you enough relief that you can function and have a decent standard of living, despite the problems generated by unfair appropriation of funds.   In the beginning my screen name did not have the 2 at the end.   When first going on line I was confused about what set-up my firewall had.   I thought I had 2 firewalls because of the initial messages from AOL concerning the status, and ended up with no firewall for a time.   I got severly hacked and my computer was taken over.    I called AOL and they told me I would be assigned a new screen name.    It is generated by what my brother used for a screen name, so I used my first initial and shortened last name.    Not very creative or interestingly funny like many more brilliant peoples SN.     Cyber Hugs   mark

  10. happy birthday to john and good luck w/the transplant!  sorry to hear that you're having to deal with "suits," too.  my 2005 was spent doing just that and 2006 seems to be headed in that direction as well.  my thoughts and prayers are with you!

i've been with aol since it's inception (you know, when they didn't put ads on ANYTHING!!!) lol  my s/n used to be "tlf1968" but i changed it to "tlgf1968" when i  divorced.  it's my initals (including my birth surname) + the year i was born.

    many blessings, tracey

  11. Easy! I had four older sisters, and when I was six years old I wore some kind of jeans that were labeled "SANFORIZED SIX". When I first got my computer, I thought your screen name should be almost " secretive" thus my handle. Also, you'ld be surprised by how many derivatives of RICHARD had been used! rich

  12. I chose my screen name because simply, I love2sing!  Music is my life!  I placed my graduation year 2007 on the end just because.

  13. I came up with my name in an instant. My daughter had been trying to get me to write a journal since she started one a few months before and I always said no. One day, November 6 - over two years ago, I said yes. I said, I think I'll create a screen name for it and ReadMeReadYou just popped into my head and it fit in terms of journal writing and reading. I still can't figure out how that name came to me.....but I think you and I know. : )

  15. Sorry to hear about you being ill over this change in medication Val, do these 'suits' not realise how their decisions can have such a bad effect on peoples lives?!!!  I hope you manage to get your pain under control soon hon.
Happy Birthday John!!!  He looks so smart in that photo, was that taken on their Wedding Day, I think it was :o)
My screen name is just my name, Sara-Jane Smiles - sarajanesmiles, I was very unimaginative the day I chose my screen name, lol ;o)
    Take care hon, feel better.

  17. My screen name was simple Sylvia (my first christian name) and M for Maria (my middle name). As there was already a Sylviam registered, I chose a random number - 4000, hence Sylviam4000.
Hope you get on top of pain control soon.
    Take care.

  19.  Good luck with the new insurance.  If the people handling all these forms, making all our decisions about medicines, treatments, physcians, etc could walk a mile in our shoes, I bet things would be different, eh?  Happy Birthday to John.
As for my screen name, when my daughter was a teenager we had (how shall I put this?) a rather turbulent relationship.(My poor Robin).  During one of our skirmishes, I seem to remember telling her she thought she was the queen of _itches.  I told her she couldn't be the queen--I was the queen- she was only the princess.  This made her laugh.  So it became a standing joke with her. I would call her Princess B and I was QueenB. When we got AOL, I was having my (then)daughter in law, set up our screen names so I told her to put in QueenB and my birthday.  She put in 8261.  When I saw what she'd put in, I asked her why 8261? Not my birthday.  But she thought it was. I said...I wish!! (my birthday would've been72954). LOL
    There you have it.

  20. I'm up agaist the "insurance" nightmare, too. It looks like the deductables & the stuff the men in suits decide they don't want to cover might wipe out my savings and make it difficult, if not impossible, to pay my bills. I have some wordplay I would like to give out on this subject, but I dare not make a screenname out of it! LOL

I chose the screen name, iscribble4u, because I wanted to write (scribble) & because I wanted people to read and enjoy it.

Good luck with the confusing Medicare system. Ack!

  25. Hey Val, Luck with you new insurance program and praying that get this pain under control soon.  Happy Birthday to John.  You know I've been meaning to change my screen name.  I didn't realize you weren't suppose to have one that was really you name until after I got online and saw no one else did.  If I could I would have chosen purelypoetry just like my journal was orginally named, and it need be I would have kept 101 because I just like the sound and feel of it.  Perhaps I'll get it changed yet.  So for now it's mkolasa101.

    Blessing to you,

              Marlene-PurelyPoetry
