For pet owners...

I sent out an email to my family and friends concerning the pet food recall.  I thought this was so important that I am going to post a list.  I have heard that over 3,000 pets have died from this tragedy.  If you are one of these pet owners, I am so, so sorry.   I found this list at the ASPCA website.  I know that tainted wheat gluten is the culprit.  Melamine was found in it.   Until this crisis is over, buy your pet wet or dry food and treats without wheat gluten, although it is not always wise to change a pets diet.  Check with your vet if you have questions.  The following sites have lists of the affected foods and recalls.   Please pet your dogs and cats for me!

- Menu Foods (several foods listed)
     - Del Monte Pet Products
(several foods listed)
     - Purina
(ALPO® Prime Cuts in Gravy only)
     - Hill's Pet Nutrition, Inc.
(Prescription Diet™ m/d™ Feline Dry
                                                         Food Only

     - Sunshine Mills, Inc.
(several foods listed)
     - Tennessean.com Pet Food Recall Searchable Database

  1. Thank you so much for reposting this list.  I check it reguarly.  Especially since my Sidney eats Dog food every now and then.  However, my rabbit Bruce Lee eats dog food all the time.  So I have to watch out that the food that they eat is not posted on the list.  Hugs.  Tish

  2. My cat has already been affected.  Unfortunetly, he was on the Iams first, that started the sickness, and then put on the prescrption m/d, to help him get better.  Two strikes.  He's now on precription c/d which doesn't have the wheat gluten in it.  He has his good days and bad days.  We're hanging in there.

  4. I did not know that many had passed away, how horrible...
My cats had been eating one of the brands effected but fortunately we had run out a couple of weeks before and hadn't gone to the store as they had other choices... I'm still leary about buying any food and poor Raisin is not happy with dry and canned food. He wants his foil packs.... Kirby loves dry so he's good... Tummy rubs for all your kitties....
    Happy Easter
