Meet Honey!

Good evening everyone!  I wanted to give a shout out to Sara from Sara's Days for her wonderful comment in her journal celebrating my pick for Editor's Pick this week.  That was sweet of her.  If you have a chance to check out her journal sometime, go read it.  It is very inspirational!  I can't believe that I received 19 comments in my comment section on my last entry.  My-oh-my.  I wanted to introduce you tonight to a very special friend of mine.  It is my kitty cat, Honey.  Her real name is Joy Faith.  I had her name picked out even before I got her.  I got her four years ago this October.  She was an outdoor, feral cat.  When I brought her home I just immediately started calling her Honey as Joy was just too hard to say.  She has been a constant companion to me and has been such a wonderful girl.  I believe that she is half Maine Coon and half American Shorthair.  Her momma was a Maine Coon and her daddy was a black short hair.  She looks a lot like her daddy, but has alot of personality traits of a Maine Coon cat.  For those of you who have Maine Coones, you know what a treat it is to live with one!  She has a trill and follows me around like a dog, but never sits in my lap like most cats do.  She likes to fetch objects and is very alert with what is going on in her surroundings.  She plays elaborate games and keeps me laughing day in and out.  I am not sure when she sleeps as she is awake when I wake up and she hardly naps.  She has a large vocabulary and even answers me when I ask her questions that require a yes or no answer.  If she answers yes she says, "Myeah".  If she wants no part of something, she answers, "Myooo".  I will ask her if she wants to eat, or wants a treat, or wants to be held, etc.  I believe that since she has been so good to me, why not ask her things, instead of treating her like she is just any old pet.  She has been extra special to me as I have been very sick the last four years and she has been a reason for me to get up on some days when otherwise I would not have.  I am very grateful for this.  She seems to know when I am not quite right.  When I came home from my surgeries she slept with me until I was up and about.  I have always owned cats and Honey is by far the smartest and sweetest cat I have ever owned.  Hope you enjoy the pictures!!

  1. HI Val. My first time here. Came by Editors picks, and saw a Val! I'm a Val too!
    Congratulations by the way.
Honey is beautiful, and sounds like my first Kitty! She talked to me all the time! I miss having a kitty like that. They are all so different.  The Kitty I have now is more a loner. He barley makes a sound. He's more vocal now that we have a new dog! LOL!
I was also reading a couple of your other entries, and I would like to say, I feel the same about my father. He's gone now, but I hold him on high.
Thanks for sharing your journal with us. I enjoyed the pics!
    From another Val ;-)

  2. Hey Val, you're famous!  And me too now!  Thankyou for my big shout out, and thankyou for saying lovely things about my journal.  I think that you are inspirational.  Your cat sounds and looks really sweet.  We used to have a big old ginger cat, he was a character too and I miss him still.  Never heard of a Maine Coone cat before, maybe I should go look it up...
    Take care my dear.

  12. It is so sweet to hear this entry.  I have a poodle and 5 outside cats that come in when we are here - but back out at night - unless they hide and we can't find them. They have provided HOURS of laughter, love, warm fuzzies ---and they are such a big part of our family and our lives.  THey know when you don't feel good.  I often feel the power of God thru my pets.  He sent them to us for a reason.  I'm glad you shared your "Honey" with us.

  13. I like the picture of your cat! It looks a lot like a stray cat I use to take care of but it got sick and the people living next to me had it put to sleep. He was going around hissing and attacking people I think. I called him Mr. Kitty, he was a sweet thing! Poor thing.

Congrats on being a Editor's pick! I am one too for my journal: http://journals.aol.com/mrsrosessosweet/ReadyToBloom

    Keep up the good work!

Honey is gorgeous, very much like my cat abu, who I adore. I used to have a dog called honey when the kids were little but she dies a few years ago. She was a pedigree shetland sheepdog and was Wendill Honey Holly!! Hope your feeling ok and  your fibro isnt playing up too much :)............Jules xx

  18. Your cat is really cute!  I have two cats of my own and one is half Maine Coon and the other one is some kind of Siamese cat.  They're both fluffy (which is why I named the first one Fluffy, the other one is named Lacey) and cute.  I don't know what the other kind is because we found it outside along with four other kittens.  The mom cat was looking for it for a long time and was actually trying to get in our house because she knew they were there!

  19. Val,
I recently acquired a kitten "for my son"....not for me of course.  He has been a good companion to me as well.  I suffer with severe depression and am alone a lot of the time.  Diego, my kitty, senses when I am crying and comes up and gently paws my eyes or licks the tears away.  So sweet!  Hope you are recovering well...take care..     Jan

  20. Your kitty, Honey, is beautiful!  We had a beautiful Maine Coon cat, Nettie, for l0 years.  Sixteen pounds and she used to say myeah, too.  Sort of like a quiet half meow.   We miss her a lot!  Your column is great - it's good to be at the top!
This is the first time I've ever gone into the "journals" part of AOL - It's neat!
