Happy Father's Day... Photo Hunt...

Krissy's Photo Scavenger Hunt this week honors Dads.  Happy Father's Day, Dad!!  I have been sitting for awhile trying to think what traits I have gotten from my Father.  I think I am a mix of my Mom and Dad.  My Dad will be 80 next year.  He is still very spry - he drives, walks a lot, uses the computer, and is still very involved in his children's lives.  Many people think he is 10 - 20 years younger than he is.  My Dad worked for the U.S. Government for 40 years as a petroleum engineer.  He and my Mom have retired to his home state Pennsylvania.  I moved up here from Virginia after a divorce when I needed some help from my parents.  I had only intended to be here for a month or two.  I have stayed here since then - 17 years!!  My Dad has always been there for his family members when they have a problem with wisdom and guidance.  He is even often there for my friends and boyfriends to lend an ear and a solution with this same wisdom.  He is vocal about his opinions concerning plights of the oppressed (i.e. the mentally ill, the needy).  I believe I have gotten this trait from my Dad.  My parents have been married for almost 50 years.  They have shown me how to stick together through life's troubles.  My Dad has a love for words and knowledge.  He and my Mom always have a dictionary, encyclopedia and map sitting close by.  I have come to do the same in my home.  He can also talk up a storm.  If there is ten seconds of silence in a room my Dad is not in it!  LOL  I can talk up a storm as well, although I do have quiet times, my Dad does not.  LOL  I affectionately call my Dad, Dadddeeooo.   He calls me quite often.  He loves his children with actions and I love this about him.  Thanks for all you do and have done for me, Daddeeeooo!!  Happy Father's Day to my wonderful Dadddeeeeoooo!!!

  2. This is so sweet Val. You're Dad sounds like a great guy you'd love to meet. It's amazing to me if you sit and talk to an elderly person the things they have to share about life and about things in general they have seen. I miss John's (my X's) grandfather alot he had something witty to tell me everyday and I miss that. My two grandfathers were both deceased when I married so I kinda adopted him as my own. I will have to do any entry for my father later and add it. Hope you have a great weekend.
    Take care, Chrissie

  3. There's so many of us who have been or are blessed with great dads.  I always tell people who didn't have a good relationship with their dad, that first of all I'm sorry about that and secondly that they have a Heavenly Father who loves and cherishes them with all His heart.  He will never leave or forsake them like earthly father's sometimes do, He will never abuse or mistreat them, He's always there for them.  So those of us who have wonderful earthly father's are doubly blessed.  We have our "daddeeeeoooo's" and our blessed Heavenly Father.   Linda in Washington state
