"Wordplay" #43! Easy and fun!...

Good morning, dear journal pals!  I don't know if I should do my font in size 10 or size 14 What would you guys like?  I have a very easy and interesting "Wordplay" for you this morning.  I found a page on Wikipedia that lists all 50 states and their etymologies.  I found it very intriguing.  I think I had done a "Wordplay" like this at some point way back a long time ago.  Was it your town or your state?  You may have had a hard time finding the answer.

Visit this website
and find out the "meaning" of your state, the "word origin" and it's "language" of origin.  If you don't want people to know what state you live in, pick your state of birth, or perhaps a state you want to visit, or a favorite state.  What did you think about this Did you find it interesting?  Leave your submission in the comments section.  If you do this as an entry in your journal, please leave your FULL entry URL so we can read your entry.  Thanks!!

my answer:  I will do Pennsylvania.  I have lived here for 16 years.  Pennsylvania comes from "Penn's Woods" after Admiral William Penn and is Latin.

If your state is already in the comments section, maybe you can click on a link or two and tell us more about why the state was given this meaning.  If you live out of the U.S. I would love to hear the etymologies of your city and country.  Thanks for playing!

I also wanted to wish my sister, Grace
, whose birthday is tomorrow, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!  I love you, Grace!!!

On a final note, since the Scavenger Hunt is an extended one and some of you may have forgotten, I want to remind you all to submit those animals!!

  1. Since you've already done our home state of Pennsylvania.... chose to do our favorite vacation spot:  Delaware.  After the Delaware River, which was named for Lord de la Warr (originally de la Guerre "of the war") who travelled it in 1610.

    Interesting....I never knew this.
