Baby news and "Wordplay"...

          "Life is like a beautiful melody, only the lyrics are messed up."
                                                                                    -Anonymous

Good morning and happy Friday everyone!  I got some interesting news a few days ago from my daughter Chelsea.  She was given a sonogram on Monday and they moved her due date up from September 13 to August 24.  Chelsea has a good size belly now and is 23 weeks along.  She wanted me to post her sonogram so I am sharing it with everyone.  Here is the little one.  We still don't know if the baby is a boy or girl because the precious darling moved around so much they could not get a good view.  LOL  Oh my.  Chelsea was disappointed.  I was glad, though, as I do not want to know.  I want to be surprised.  I thought it was going to remain this way, then Chelsea called me yesterday and told me they rescheduled another sonogram for May 11.  I hope the baby keeps hiding its gender.  LOL

The baby is already trying to turn upside-down.  If you can't tell, the baby is facing us,  the head is on the right, the left arm is raised to the head and the right leg is raised.  The doctor said that the baby was the most active one she had seen in a very long time.  Chelsea is doing very well.  She is always eating and didn't get too much nausea with this little one.  Chelsea is coming for a visit next Tuesday for a whole week!  I am so, so excited!!

Now, time for "Wordplay".  I decided to talk about song lyrics.  I have a wide range of music that I listen to.  Very wide.  I really listen to everything but rap music, although I do understand why people like it.  It just isn't pleasing to my ear.  The one thing in common, though, about the music I listen to, and like, is that I have to like the lyrics.  If the lyrics are offensive or unintelligible or just plain stupid, I tend to dislike the song.  I do like silly lyrics or lyrics that make me laugh.   Lyrics that move me emotionally really grab me.  For "Wordplay" I wanted to discuss a favorite song you have because you like the lyricsPerhaps you have a favorite singer/songwriter who always moves you and you want to discuss him or her.  You don't have to write down all the lyrics.  Maybe you can write down the chorus of a song or two or discuss the gist of their songs.  What type of music do you like and is for the lyrics Can you link us to a song you likeDo you or have you  written any song lyrics?  Leave your participation to "Wordplay" in the comments section.  If you want to do this as an entry in your journal please come back and leave the URL so we can go back and read it!  Thanks so much for participating!

I remember my brother, who is a deejay, doing an emailing, asking us what our favorite song was.  Wow, that is a hard one.  To pick a favorite song of all times.  I remember having to think long and hard on this.  I know I have changed my mind a few times.  I probably will again.  Songs are like colors.  I change my favorite color often.  Here are the lyrics to my favorite song for the moment.  It brings me chills and a wet eye...  Press the link below the song and you can hear it as well.

           What a Wonderful World

     I see trees of green... red roses too
     I see 'em bloom... for me and for you
     And I think to myself... what a wonderful world.

     I see skies of blue... clouds of white
     Bright blessed days... dark sacred nights
     And I think to myself... what a wonderful world.

     The colors of a rainbow... so pretty... in the sky
     Are also on the faces... of people... going by
     I see friends shaking hands...  sayin'... how do you do?
     They're really sayin'... I love you.

     I hear babies cry... I watch them grow
     They'll learn much more... than I'll ever know
     And I think to myself... what a wonderful world

According to my searches, although there is controversy on who actually wrote this song, most resources say it was written by Bob Thiele, George D. Weiss and George Douglas in 1967.    It is sung beautifully by Louis Armstrong

What can you participate with?  Thanks!  Have a lovely day! xox

  3. I can never understand those sonograms. I can just about see the baby's head. I know how excited you must be. : )

    I have so many favorite songs. I think to choose one would be impossible. I'm like you. I like all music. I do love Elvis's version of "How Great Thou Art." And this morning I heard an old forties ballad that I love, "I'll be seeing you"....
    The song reminds me of old loves and also of those in my family that have gone to heaven. Here are the lyrics:

    I’ll be seeing you;
    In all the old, familiar places;
    That this heart of mine embraces;
    All day through.

    In that small cafe;
    The park across the way;
    The children’s carousel;
    The chestnut tree;
    The wishing well.

    I’ll be seeing you;
    In every lovely, summer’s day;
    And everything that’s bright and gay;
    I’ll always think of you that way;
    I’ll find you in the morning sun;
    And when the night is new;
    I’ll be looking at the moon;
    But I’ll be seeing you.

    Love,
    Angela

  4. I remember when I was pregnant, I requested that they held back the sex from me if they were able to determine, I wanted to be surprised by what God was creating.  However, my son and d-i-l couldn't wait.  They started talking and singing to her - using her name before she was born.  I have to admit from all reports she's very mellow and is happy when she's close to others.

    As for songs, I have so many favorites,  right now current favorite is by Keith Urban.  The first time I heard the song, I stopped in my tracks and just listened.  I went 15+ years in an abusive marriage.  This song, makes me think of how Sonny has slowly earned my complete trust and love ... IT IS out there!

    Here is a small part of the song:

    I wanna honor your mother
    I wanna learn from your pa
    I wanna steal your attention like a bad outlaw
    I wanna stand out in a crowd for you
    A man among men
    I wanna make your world better than it's ever been

    And I'm gonna love you like nobody loves you
    And I'll earn your trust making memories of us

    I'm gonna be here for you from now on
    This you know somehow
    You've been stretched to the limits but it's alright now
    And I'm gonna make you a promise
    If there's life after this
    I'm gonna be there to meet you with a warm, wet kiss

    And I'm gonna love you like nobody loves you
    And I'll earn your trust making memories of us

  7. That's an easy one for me.... It is my wedding song, and says much about life in general for me...

    Jim Croce - Time in a Bottle

    If I could save time in a bottle
    The first thing that I'd like to do
    Is to save every day
    Till Eternity passes away
    Just to spend them with you

    If I could make days last forever
    If words could make wishes come true
    I'd save every day like a treasure and then,
    Again, I would spend them with you

    But there never seems to be enough time
    To do the things you want to do
    Once you find them
    I've looked around enough to know
    That you're the one I want to go
    Through time with

    If I had a box just for wishes
    And dreams that had never come true
    The box would be empty
    Except for the memory
    Of how they were answered by you

    But there never seems to be enough time
    To do the things you want to do
    Once you find them
    I've looked around enough to know
    That you're the one I want to go
    Through time with

    Be well,
    Dawn

  9. Hi Val,  Thanks for sharing Chelsea`s scan pic with us.  Aren`t they just amazing? As far as songs go, I like meaningful lyrics, which is why I`ve always liked Dylan or Joan Baez.  My favourite song of all time is `Hallelujah` written by Leonard Cohen but recorded more recently by K.D. Lang. To me the lyrics are really beautiful.  :o)

  11. Hi Val...amazing baby pic!
    As for word play.... I also like lots of different lyrics...but the one that comes to mind is by a woman named Nancy Lamott.   She died shortly after doing this song.   The song is called "We live on Borrowed Time"...it's beautiful.

  13. I am glad that Chelsea is having a relatively smooth pregnancy.   My favorite songwriter/singers are John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, and Howlin' Wolf.   mark

  14. Oh Val, how precious is the sonogram pic?  I thought she knew the baby's sex already. I guess I am confused.With Chad, my due date was Aug. 26th and he wasn't born until Sept.13th!!! Tommy was due Sept 17th and was born the 2nd.  LOL As for song lyrics, my tastes vary widely.  I love The Moody Blues especially, and SuperTramp really speaks to me. LOL The Moodys song  IKNOW YOURE OUT THERE SOMEWHERE is very special to me.  I like all kinds of music, but rap. But I am like you I can understand how some people like it.  I know I owe you an email.  I'll get to it (Or an IM) soon.  Luv ya kid, Barb

  16. So glad to see mom and baby doing well.
    Songs...inspirational...hmm...Anything with a good religious hidden meaning that comes up on me suddenly.  Do you remember my entry on Remember When It Rained by Josh Groban?  Great hidden alagory to the crucifixion whether purposeful or not.

  17. I like the song The Rose for it's lyrics:

    Some say love it is a river
    that drowns the tender reed
    Some say love it is a razor
    that leaves your soul to bleed
    Some say love it is a hunger
    an endless aching need
    I say love it is a flower
    and you it's only seed

    It's the heart afraid of breaking
    that never learns to dance
    It's the dream afraid of waking
    that never takes the chance
    It's the one who won't be taken
    who cannot seem to give
    and the soul afraid of dying
    that never learns to live

    When the night has been too lonely
    and the road has been too long
    and you think that love is only
    for the lucky and the strong
    Just remember in the winter
    far beneath the bitter snows
    lies the seed
    that with the sun's love
    in the spring
    becomes the rose
