"I love quotations because it is a joy to find thoughts one might have,
beautifully expressed with much authority by someone recognized
wiser than oneself." - Marlene Dietrich
My week is sailing by for some reason. Wow, it's already Wednesday! I hope everyone had a lovely Easter weekend with their loved ones =). My weekend was very good. I spent it with my boyfriend and then he and I went to see Krissy and John yesterday and had lunch over at their home. Krissy made a beautiful corn beef and cabbage dinner. It was very, very nice to spend a couple of hours with them. It was the first time since they had returned from Hershey! It was so nice to see them! It's so good to have them home. My anxiety level has really dropped since they have come home. Things just seem right now that they are back in town.
It's Wednesday and time for "Wordplay"! If you guys have noticed, I like to include quotations often with entries. I thought I would ask for favorite quotations today. Maybe you have some quotations that have gotten you through rough times or even quotations that you have started that others have embraced and they have become motto for them. Do you have any favorite quotations or quotation stories? Please tell me about them in the comment section. When possible, give the quotation an author so they have credit! If you need any help or need your memory jogged go here. If you want to do this as an entry in your journal, please leave your entry URL so I can read it and leave a message! Thanks for playing!! This could be fun!
I wanted to wish my SIL, Shawn, who had a birthday yesterday, a very, very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Hi Shawn, I love you!! Hope you had a wonderful day!
Have a lovely day, all! xox

"Life itself is a quotation." - Jorge Luis Borges

ReplyDeleteBe careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.
ReplyDeleteMark Twain
If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything.

Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.

Two of my favorite quotes are:
ReplyDelete1. "In three words I can sum up life.....It goes on."
2. "Never compare yourself to others, they are more screwed up than you think."
My freshman English teacher had this quote on her wall by Margaret Thatcher.
ReplyDelete"Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It's not a day when you lounge around and do nothing, but when you have had everything to do, and you've done it."
"You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars. And, although, you may not know your reason for being here, please know the universe is unfolding as it should."
ReplyDeleteFrom the Desiderata by Max Ehrmann.
Hi Val,
ReplyDeletewell mine is I learned/heard from my husband: "The only obstacle in life is when you take your eyes off the goal."
though I get sidetracked a lot...:-)
I like joey's quote specially about others more screwed up..it was funny cause I was doing my yard work outside and I'm thinking:"hmnn..why it seems like everybody else grass are greener but mine?"
Gem :-)
This is probably more of a poem than a quotation. I found it almost 10 years ago and it really stuck with me. I have it posted on my desk. And unfotunately I don't know who to give the credit to.
ReplyDelete"A sheltered harbor from the storm, a sunlit path both safe and warm.
No matter where you choose to roam, the light of love will bring you home."
Two of my kids were off in the military and I guess that's why it was so important to me.
Again, sorry I've been out of touch.
Hugs, Barb
Hi Val, I really can`t think of one offhand but I really like the ones other readers have listed. I`m glad you had a nice dinner with Krissy and John, I didn`t realise he was home yet so that`s really great to hear. :o)

i dont know if it was someone elses quotation but my grandpop used to always tell my brother "never look down on a man unless your going to pick him up" and now i take that and use it as my own "never look down on a gurl unless your going to pick her up" i try and live by it most the time they screw me over and my attitude changes about them so i have no other choice but to look down since they become so low lmao!

I have always liked this one: "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing." - Edmund Burke. I also like anything from the Bible. And how about this: "Cats rule!" :)

ReplyDeleteThere are some good quotes I have read in the comments. The Mark Twain one was particularly poignant about telling the truth and not having to remember anything. It is amazing how far some people will go to hide what they are actually thinking. mark
