Photo Scavenger Hunt #114 will be due on Sunday, July, 8, at 11:00 PM EST.
Our subject this week will be: "Independence Day, freedom"
Please note that this is an extended Hunt and is due in nine days. This should be a fun one and I do hope you all enjoy the subject! Since not everyone celebrates 4th of July festivities, I thought that the word "freedom" would allow everyone to participate. You could take photos of anything that represents this subject to you personally and interpret it any way you wish. Place your full entry URL in the comments section below. If anyone needs help with this don't hesitate to email me. Have a safe and fun Independence Day!! Happy Birthday America!!!

My friend Merry sent me these cat jokes in an email the other day and I thought I would share them with you. I got a kick out of them. I think you will like them, especially if you are a "cat person".
Did you hear about the cat who swallowed a ball of wool?
She had mittens.
What is the difference between a cat and a comma?
One has the paws before the claws and the other has the clause before pause.
What do you get when you cross a chick with an alley cat?
A peeping tom.
Why don't cats play poker in the jungle?
Too many cheetahs.
What is a cat's favorite song?
Three Blind Mice.
What is a cat's way of keeping law & order?
Why did a person with an unspayed female cat have to go to court?
For kitty littering.
Why are cats better than babies?
Because you only have to change a litter box once a day.
What is the name of the unauthorized autobiography of the cat?
Hiss and Tell.
What does a cat do when it gets mad?
It has a hissy fit.
What do you call the cat that was caught by the police?
What is a cat's favorite color?
Where does a cat go when it loses its tail?
The retail store.
What does a cat like to eat on a hot day?
A mice cream cone.
What do cats use to make coffee?
What do you call a cat that has swallowed a duck?
A duck-filled fatty puss.
Why is the cat so grouchy?
Because he's in a bad mewd.
What do you call a cat that lives in an igloo?
What do cats like to eat for breakfast?
How do cats end a fight?
They hiss and make up.
What is the cat's favorite magazine?
What is a cat's favorite car?
What kind of cat will keep your grass short?
A Lawn Meower.
Why did the judge dismiss the entire jury made up of cats?
Because each of them was guilty of purrjury.
What do you use to comb a cat?
Did you have a favorite one? I liked the "retail store" and the "duck-filled fatty pus" ones. My cats have me laughing all day long. Baby was chasing his tail the last couple of nights, just like a dog - round and round in circles. He used to do this but stopped. He is doing it again. Do you have any funny stories about your cats or any pet? I would love for you to share it in my comments section! I will share stories in an entry later in the week if I receive some!
I hope you are all having a good start to your weekend! Take care and pat your pets for me! xox

Krissy's Photo Scavenger Hunt this week honors Dads. Happy Father's Day, Dad!! I have been sitting for awhile trying to think what traits I have gotten from my Father. I think I am a mix of my Mom and Dad. My Dad will be 80 next year. He is still very spry - he drives, walks a lot, uses the computer, and is still very involved in his children's lives. Many people think he is 10 - 20 years younger than he is. My Dad worked for the U.S. Government for 40 years as a petroleum engineer. He and my Mom have retired to his home state Pennsylvania. I moved up here from Virginia after a divorce when I needed some help from my parents. I had only intended to be here for a month or two. I have stayed here since then - 17 years!! My Dad has always been there for his family members when they have a problem with wisdom and guidance. He is even often there for my friends and boyfriends to lend an ear and a solution with this same wisdom. He is vocal about his opinions concerning plights of the oppressed (i.e. the mentally ill, the needy). I believe I have gotten this trait from my Dad. My parents have been married for almost 50 years. They have shown me how to stick together through life's troubles. My Dad has a love for words and knowledge. He and my Mom always have a dictionary, encyclopedia and map sitting close by. I have come to do the same in my home. He can also talk up a storm. If there is ten seconds of silence in a room my Dad is not in it! LOL I can talk up a storm as well, although I do have quiet times, my Dad does not. LOL I affectionately call my Dad, Dadddeeooo. He calls me quite often. He loves his children with actions and I love this about him. Thanks for all you do and have done for me, Daddeeeooo!! Happy Father's Day to my wonderful Dadddeeeeoooo!!!
If you would like to honor your Dad and play the Hunt this week visit here! Thank you, Krissy, for allowing me to host this special Hunt!! Don't we have the BEST Dad??!!!!!
Happy Father's Day to all the Fathers out in J-Land!!!

Aww, look at these faces!! Fiona and Tyson are in shelters. A monthly gift of $18 (a daily gift of 60 cents) can keep these or other animals alive with shelter, food and veterinary care. We have 8 million animals in shelters in this country and half of these will be put to sleep. When I heard this statistic my heart was ripped out. Our country needs to take care of this problem!! Consider sponsoring an ASPCA pet! You may give a one time gift, too!
Want some ASPCA free stuff?!
Here is something neat for kids... ASPCA Animated.
Pet your furry friends for me!! xox

I LOVE the word "peace". My soul craves it. I seek out quiet and solitude daily - in my home or in nature. I don't like arguments and I am in disgust by all the chaos in the world. I used to be a more chaotic gal when my mental illness was out of control (I have Bipolar I) - when they couldn't find a cocktail of medicines that would work for me (for another entry soon). I didn't like this chaotic life, but I didn't know how to get out of it. Now I LOVE peaceful living. I love sitting and meditating on simple things - on small joys and wonders. I am a simple gal. I found this poem and thought I would share it with you all. I found it profound. I hope you all enjoy it.
SIMPLE SOLUTION: Peace
By Elizabeth Cunningham
The problem is
people think peace is boring
we have lost our imagi-
nations. We have forgotten
the fluidity of peace
how it is like all the muscles
rippling to lift the dancer’s leg,
how it is the slow rhythm of tidal rivers
how it is clouds forming and dispersing
how it is a flock of birds turning as one
in evening sky
how it is food laid out on a round table
and honest struggle
between lovers and friends
how it pulses in our blood
how it sings in our ears
how the death of each tiny thing
is held secure in its arms
with the life. We have forgotten
how boring it is to kill each other
There is much more suspense
P. S. I have learned how to do transcendental meditation. It has been a lifesaver. If anyone wants to learn the benefits of it and how to practice it just pop me an email! I would be glad to discuss it with you and I can even tutor you in it! Wishing you all a good week! xox

Good morning, dear journal pals! I don't know if I should do my font in size 10 or size 14. What would you guys like? I have a very easy and interesting "Wordplay" for you this morning. I found a page on Wikipedia that lists all 50 states and their etymologies. I found it very intriguing. I think I had done a "Wordplay" like this at some point way back a long time ago. Was it your town or your state? You may have had a hard time finding the answer.
Visit this website and find out the "meaning" of your state, the "word origin" and it's "language" of origin. If you don't want people to know what state you live in, pick your state of birth, or perhaps a state you want to visit, or a favorite state. What did you think about this? Did you find it interesting? Leave your submission in the comments section. If you do this as an entry in your journal, please leave your FULL entry URL so we can read your entry. Thanks!!
my answer: I will do Pennsylvania. I have lived here for 16 years. Pennsylvania comes from "Penn's Woods" after Admiral William Penn and is Latin.
If your state is already in the comments section, maybe you can click on a link or two and tell us more about why the state was given this meaning. If you live out of the U.S. I would love to hear the etymologies of your city and country. Thanks for playing!
I also wanted to wish my sister, Grace, whose birthday is tomorrow, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I love you, Grace!!!
On a final note, since the Scavenger Hunt is an extended one and some of you may have forgotten, I want to remind you all to submit those animals!!

I was visiting Jeannette's journal this morning and saw a neat avatar she created of herself through Photobucket and Meez. I thought I would create one of my own. I chose attributes as close to myself as I could. And now introducing the "Valmeez"...
I actually do think this does look like me. If you would like to make one of yourself click here and follow the step by step instructions. You do need a Photobucket subscription, which only takes moments to sign up for and is free. Leave your link in the comments section if you make one so I can come by and view yours! Thanks! Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!
